
Grand Lido Negril - Ultimate in Seaside Luxury
Grand Lido Negril is one of the best and most luxurious all-inclusive hotel in the Caribbean. If you were to pick the best seaside location and build the best all-inclusive resort, you would end up with Grand Lido Negril. It is the perfect blend of luxury, fine dining, and relaxation, in a scenic tropical seaside settings.
This Superclubs resort is tucked right in the corner of, Bloody Bay, a secluded cove which is part of the prime stretch of Negril's world renowned, seven-mile beach. It was designed and built to project an air of Mediterranean luxury and offers an unsurpass level of luxurious service with a warmth that is uniquely Jamaican.
The main building with its expansive marble and glass decor houses the lobby, offices, restaurants, and other common areas and sits in the center of the cove. To the left of the main building - looking from the beach, the rooms on the clothing-required side of the resort, hugs the crescent of the cove for about a quarter of a mile. On the right are the au natural rooms, together with the spas, shops, gyms.
Grand Lido Negril is located across the street in the same lush tropical area as from Hedonism II. The beach on the prude side of the resort is absolutely georgeous. And because it is in the corner of the cove, the water is extremely calm - which makes it perfect for water sports. The Au natural beach, while still great, is not as pristine as the clothing side. Both the prude and Au natural beaches has a bar and grill for convenience but bartenders are always patrolling the beach so you never have to leave your beach chair to go get your favorite drink.
The Facilites and Services
To ensure you have an ultra luxurious jamaica vacation, Grand Lido Negril has many services to pamper you and ensure that you are always comfortable and relaxed. Get totally pampered in the spa where manicures and pedicures are complimentary. The a la carte spa menu includes Swedish Massage, Back & Neck Massage, Seaweed Wraps, Aromatherapy, and waxing to name a few. My personal favorite was a full-body massage outside in one of the spa booths on a cliff over looking the sea.
To cater to your needs, Grand Lido Negril offers complimentary services. If you desire privacy, in-room dining service is provided. You can order any gourment crusine and champagne and it will be delivered right to to your room any time of the day or night - no extra charge. We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and the chef send a fruit, cheese, and shrimp cocktail platter with a nice bottle of champagne to our room.
Every evenings, except Saturdays and Mondays, you can take a sunset cruise on Grand Lido Negril own luxury yacht. The 147-foot M/Y Zein was a wedding present to Princess Grace and Prince Rainier by Aristotle Onassis.
Wireless connection is available in the business center and pool areas for $15US a day. Internet connection is available in the business center as well. Of course, direct dial telephone is available in every room. A duty free gift shop and boutique is also available for your convenience.
The foods
Grand Lido Negril takes food seriously and has set the standard for excellence in fine cruisine. In fact, for the last seven years they have been hosting "Epicurean Escape" where top chefs from all over the world put their talents on showcase. When you come here, be prepared for the taste buds to have a treat. The resort chefs have been trained in many crusines and adhere to rigid standards that gives Grand Lido resorts a consistent taste of excellence.
Grand Lido Negril has five speciality restaurants plus the main dining area called Gran Terrazza. Piacere serves fine French cuisine in a Formal, elegant, and luxurious candlelit setting. The ambience is enhanced by live piano accompaniment. La Pasta is an Itallian Pasta Bar. Cafe Lido in casual elegant continental dining. Munasan serves Japanese cruisine while you are seated around teppanyaki style tables. At the Jamaican restaurant Reggae Cafe, you will find Island favorite like jerk chicken, festival, and roti.
The Grand Terrazza is where breakfast and lunch are served buffet style daily. For dinner, you have to make reservation at one of the five restaurants. Two mouth-watering buffets are served each week. There is the Caribbean Beach Carnival on Monday nights and the spectacular General Manager's Grand Gala on Fridays. You don't want to miss the General Manager's buffet. I have never eaten so much succulent grilled lobster in my life - and that was only one of many mouth-watering dishes. Trust me when I tell you "don't miss it", it is off the scale.
The Entertainment
Grand Lido Negril focus is on luxury, pampering, and comfort. If you are looking for off-the-chart entertainment, this is not your resort. The entertainment is not bad, it just not lively and by midnight the disco or piano bar is dead. But most people who come here are looking for a more laid-back and, frankly, want it this way.
Each night except Fridays, there is live music and entertainment in the Grand Terrazza. The Atlantis Night Club is open every night from 9:00 PM - 2:00 AM, and Amici Piano Lounge at 6:00pm. On Fridays, the Caribbean Beach Carnival features live music on the beach. In addition there are soca and reggae dance classes and a staff and guest talent show.
The Activities
Although there are plenty of things to do at Grand Lido Negril, most people come here to relax and be pampered. Unlike Hedonism where they encourage or ask you to participate, here it is up to you and no one really bothers you. Again, this is a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere. There are four tennis courts two of which are lighted. Tournament and lessons are arranged daily by a resident pro. Other land sports include beach volleyball, bicycle tours, and table tennis.
Watersports include Windsurfing, sunfish sailing; water-skiing, kayaking, snorkeling, glass bottom boat rides, and scuba diving. There is a dive daily for beginners. There are two pools and five jacuzzis. one of the pool is near the beach and the other is in clothing optional area.
And just in case you feel you have eaten too much and need a workout, The resort has a fully air-conditioned fitness center with the latest aerobics machines and free weights. There are also classes for power walks, aerobics, reggae and soca.
If you love Golf, the challenging 18-hole Negril Hill Golf course is also included with complementary green fees and transportation. However, clubs, carts, and mandatory caddies are not include.
The Rooms and accomodations
The rooms at Grand Lido Negril are luxurious with floors that are tiled which, I guess, make them easier to maintain with all that sea sand. The bathrooms has whirlpool bath and walk-in shower with modern variable shower heads and marble vanity.
Grand Lido Negril has 210 suites. These are either junior or full suites that are either beach front or have ocean or garden views. Every suite has air-conditioning, telephone, satellite TV, CD player, air dryer, coffe maker, and a safe deposit box.
- Junior Suites are large bedroom with a king-size or two twin beds and sunken living room with a small balcony or patio.
- One Bedroom Suites include a large bedroom with a seperate living room, 5 piece wrought iron dining set and a extra love seat. They come complete with entertainment console and a minibar that is replenished daily.
- One Bedroom Beachfront Luxury Suites have everthing the one-bedroom suites have plus an open courtyard with private Jacuzzi, fully stocked wet bar, walk-in closet, and powder room.
- Prime Minister's Suites and the Royal Suite are beautifully furnished and come complete with all the amenities of the one bedroom luxury suites. But additionally, they come with an Executive Board Room, optional connecting bedroom and separate dressing area.
