The presence of microscopic organisms produced what is called bioluminescence which caused the water to light up when agitated. As fishes swim around, they produce streak of light in their trails. Seeing is believing, so go take a night cruise on this luminous lagoon and experience this rare phenomenum for yourself. Of course, this is only visible at night. Even better when the moon is not out.
If you want to get a glimpse of some of the area's native wildlife, this is the place to go. For more than 50 years, birds from the region have held afternoon feasts at this sanctuary, giving visitors a rare chance to see the Doctor Bird, Jamaica's national bird.
